Benesch is pleased to announce that Emily C. Fess and Leah Beitner have joined the firm's Chicago office as associates.
Emily is a skilled Labor and Employment attorney who counsels and represents employers on a variety of employment law matters, including medical leave and accommodation requests, discipline and discharge, harassment and workplace investigations and wage and hour issues. She regularly responds to discrimination charges filed with EEOC and state agencies, as well as representing clients in federal and state court in various Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA and retaliation suits. Additionally, Emily volunteers with Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago and is a member of the Step Up Women's Network.
Emily received her J.D., cum laude, from University of Wisconsin Law School in 2009 and her B.S. from Northwestern University in 2004.
Leah, a tax attorney, joins Benesch's Corporate & Securities Practice Group. She counsels clients from a broad range of industries on the tax aspects of a variety of transactions. Leah has experience representing public and private corporations, fund managers and institutional investors in connection with mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and real estate transactions. She also represents U.S. and international corporations in connection with public offerings of debt, equity and other financial instruments, as well as advises numerous REIT clients in their transactional and operational planning.
Leah received her J.D., cum laude, from University of Michigan Law School and B.A in English from University of Michigan in 2009.
