Alan E. Schabes

Mr. Schabes focuses his practice on health care law, including the representation of long-term care and residential care facilities; health care private equity and venture capital investment firms; physician groups; integrated delivery systems; ancillary service providers including institutional pharmacy companies, health maintenance organizations, and preferred provider organizations; Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement matters; fraud and abuse; asset and stock acquisitions; and joint venture formation.

Mr. Schabes served as the co-general editor and as a contributing editor of The Long Term Care Handbook – Second Edition published in 2000 by the American Health Lawyers Association and as a contributing editor to the Third Edition published in 2006. He is a contributing editor and a member of the Board of Editors to the United States Health Laws Compendium published by the American Health Lawyers Association and West Publishing Company and to the Health Law Handbook published by Thompson Publishing Company. Mr. Schabes has been credentialed by the American Medical Association to serve as a member of the AMA Doctor Advisory Network. He was the recipient of the 1992 Journalism Award of the Ohio Chapter of the American College of Health Care Administrators.

Mr. Schabes has spoken nationally on a variety of health care topics to groups including the American Health Lawyers Association, the American College of Health Care Administrators, the American Association of Homes for the Aging, and the Ohio Health Care Association. He has published numerous health care-related articles in national publications including Nursing Homes Magazine.
