David Mellott is a partner, the firm's general counsel, Chair of the Insurance Recovery Practice and a member of the firm's Executive Committee. He formerly served as the firm's Practice Group Leader for a dozen years.
David's practice involves complex commercial litigation in various manufacturing and service industries. He also defends claims and lawsuits against corporate directors and officers, handles business ownership disputes, and prosecutes commercial insurance coverage recovery actions for policyholders, including claims under directors and officers liability insurance. David also provides legal counsel and advice to businesses on agreements and contracts and helps companies meet their business needs by providing proactive solutions at an effective and predictable cost. David is experienced in all phases of litigation, including trial, appellate proceedings and alternative dispute resolution.
David also offers his services as a mediator and as an arbitrator. Early in his career, he spent close to eleven years defending personal injury cases. Since then his practice has consisted of commercial and business litigation. During the course of his career, David has participated in numerous mediations and arbitrations and is experienced at getting complicated litigation disputes resolved. He has served as an arbitration chairman for the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas and is a member of the Fee Dispute Committee of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Assn., which arbitrates fee disputes between lawyers and clients.
