Katherine Smith is an attorney in the Benesch’s Intellectual Property/3iP Practice Group. Her practice includes domestic and international patent preparation and prosecution, clearance assessments, patentability assessments, and prior art searching in the mechanical and biomedical arts. Additionally, Katherine’s practice includes complex patent litigation involving a range of technologies such as medical devices, mechanical products, and pharmaceuticals. She has experience in various phases of litigation, including drafting motions, discovery requests, document collection and production, analysis of infringement contentions, and preparation of non-infringement and invalidity contentions. Katherine also has experience preparing trademark applications.
Prior to joining Benesch, Katherine worked in the medical device industry in various areas, including post-market surveillance, research and design, and quality and compliance. She has also provided technology management services to major Northeast Ohio hospitals.
