Steve Oldham is Of Counsel in the firm’s Litigation Practice Group. He has extensive experience litigating cases within various state and federal courts throughout the country as well as before various administrative bodies. Steve’s practice primarily focuses on litigation, including product liability litigation, commercial litigation and employment litigation. Steve assists clients across a wide range of industries including alcohol beverage, transportation and logistics, and manufacturing, among others. Regardless of the industry or nature of litigation, Steve’s clients quickly realize and appreciate the practical, efficient, and cost-effective solutions that Steve provides, while aggressively and proactively seeking to advance the clients’ specific goals and objectives.
In addition, Steve has extensive experience with litigation involving electronic discovery and is a Member of Benesch’s eDiscovery Committee. Steve has led and managed discovery teams on behalf of a multinational manufacturer in complex litigation and putative class action matters. Steve has assisted clients in overseeing all aspects of eDiscovery including interviewing custodians; preserving and collecting data; selecting, hiring and managing vendors; processing, culling, searching, and reviewing documents; and overseeing the production of documents. Steve represents clients in discovery conferences in state and federal litigation matters to negotiate and craft defensible and judicially-accepted eDiscovery protocols. Additionally, Steve has experience utilizing a wide variety of platforms and software for eDiscovery matters.
As a Member of the Regulated Industries Practice Group at Benesch, Steve assists breweries, wineries, distributors, and retailers in addressing legal needs and resolving commercial disputes. Steve has litigated cases involving the Ohio Alcoholic Beverages Franchise Act (“Franchise Act”) and counsels clients with respect to Ohio’s three-tier distribution system and the Franchise Act. Steve counsels both manufacturers and distributors on issues related to the Franchise Act and assists clients with crafting and negotiating enforceable distribution agreements. Steve assists clients with permitting needs and provides counseling with respect to regulations from the Alcohol Tax and Trade Bureau (“TTB”) and the Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Liquor Control. Additionally, Steve is a Member of the Wholesale Beer and Wine Association of Ohio.
