Tell us about Capital Prosthetic and Orthotic Center, Inc.
We design, fabricate and fit prosthetic devices and orthopedic braces. We have five locations in central Ohio, one in Smyrna, Tennessee, and one in Charleston, South Carolina. Here in the Columbus office, we do both patient care and manufacturing. We’ve been in business since 1981 and have 25 to 30 employees. People often ask if I work with athletes, but we’re more about improving someone’s day-to-day life. I want my patients to pick up a lunchbox and go to school or work. To get a kid to walk or bring somebody back to their life is a great feeling.
How long have you worked with Benesch?
We started working with Frank Carsonie in 2003 and also work with Frank’s colleagues, including John Stock and Sara Evans.
What kinds of things does Benesch help you with?
Benesch really keeps me out of trouble. The rules and regulations for health care are ever-evolving, and when I call Frank, and ask ‘Can I do this? Is this legal? Does this fall under safe harbors regulations?’ Frank gives me an answer every time—quick, easy, painless.
Sara assisted me when starting up our South Carolina operation. She was quite knowledgeable and was able to walk me through all the rules and regulations we needed to comply with for working out-of-state. In addition, John has helped us with litigation matters.
What do you like about working with Benesch?
The value is there. I don’t mind paying for good service, which for me means having your questions answered immediately or very soon after you ask the question. With Benesch, I get a response quickly, which is so important because there are times I have to make a business decision and I don’t want to make the wrong one. Anything health care or medical-related has been such a focus for the past couple of years. Has that impacted your business in ways that changed your relationship with Benesch?
I am a person who utilizes attorneys and financial professionals all the time, and that hasn’t changed, even though the rules and regulations have. I try not to make any type of decision that could affect my practice here without seeking advice.
Frank and the whole team of attorneys I’ve worked with at Benesch have always made themselves available. Even if they’re out at a conference, I’ll get an e-mail. I’m not left hanging for two or three days. The response time is excellent.
