Benesch is pleased to announce that Ruddy Abam, Managing Associate in the firm’s Litigation Practice Group, has been named to the National Black Lawyers (NBL) 2025 “Top 40 Under 40” list in Illinois. This invitation-only honor recognizes influential African American attorneys under the age of 40 who have demonstrated excellence in the legal profession and a commitment to providing outstanding representation.
The NBL is an honorary organization that promotes a national network of leading attorneys. Its members include plaintiff and defense lawyers from across the country who practice in a wide range of disciplines. Honorees are selected through a combination of peer nominations, executive committee recommendations and independent research, recognizing attorneys with strong reputations for leadership, performance and results in their areas of practice.
Ruddy’s practice encompasses complex commercial, business and financial services litigation in both federal and state courts, and in arbitration and alternative dispute resolution forums. She has significant experience representing a diverse client base, including major consumer-facing corporations, debt buyers and primary servicers.
She advises clients through all stages of litigation and regulatory matters, including drafting and arguing motions, managing discovery, taking depositions and responding to civil investigative demands from government agencies. Her experience also includes defending individual and class action claims under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), and Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), as well as managing external investigations and compliance inquiries.
