Anu is a versatile real estate attorney with over a decade of experience representing both landlords and tenants in leasing matters across commercial, residential, and mixed-use properties.
Her practice spans the full lifecycle of leasing transactions, including drafting and negotiating commercial leases, subleases, assignments, extensions, estoppel certificates, broker commission agreements, SNDAs, non-disclosure agreements, and construction contracts. Anu regularly interprets lease provisions, identifies associated risks, and advises on lease administration and abstracting. She is also experienced in handling portfolio-wide matters, such as notices, demand letters, and claims resolution. In addition to her real estate practice, she is well-versed in compliance, construction, insurance, and employment law.
Clients value Anu’s tactical and pragmatic approach. Her in-house background gives her a strong appreciation of the broader business context in which legal decisions are made. She thinks holistically about her client’s needs and delivers counsel that balances legal considerations with business priorities. By prioritizing what truly impacts the bottom line, she helps clients operate more efficiently and cost-effectively.
Prior to joining Benesch, Anu served as Assistant General Counsel at WPG (formerly Washington Prime Group Inc.), a retail real estate company with a portfolio of open-air and enclosed shopping centers across the U.S.
