Benesch Strengthens Real Estate Bench, Welcoming Anu Dhuga as Of Counsel

Press Releases

Benesch, one of the fastest-growing firms on the Am Law 200 list, is pleased to announce that Anu Dhuga has joined the firm as of counsel in its Real Estate Practice Group. Her addition underscores Benesch’s continued investment in building a deep bench of top real estate talent and expanding its leasing capabilities.

“Anu brings the advantage of in-house experience at a premier retail real estate company, allowing her to advise clients from a valuable inside perspective,” said Jeff Wild, Chair of Benesch’s Real Estate Practice Group. “Her ability to navigate both the legal and operational complexities of leasing, combined with a deep understanding of our clients’ business needs, will be a tremendous asset.”

Anu has more than a decade of experience representing landlords and tenants in leasing matters involving commercial, residential and mixed-use properties. Her practice spans the full lifecycle of leasing transactions, including drafting and negotiating commercial leases, subleases, assignments, extensions, estoppel certificates, broker commission agreements, SNDAs, non-disclosure agreements and construction contracts. She regularly interprets lease provisions, assesses risk and advises on lease administration and abstracting. She is also experienced in handling portfolio-wide matters such as notices, demand letters and claims resolution.

"I'm excited to join Benesch because it gives me the chance to combine the firm's outstanding reputation and sophisticated legal platform with my in-house background to offer clients something unique: legal counsel that understands not just the law, but how real estate businesses operate day-to-day,” said Anu. “I look forward to helping clients succeed beyond just closing deals - I want to help them tackle the real-world challenges that keep them up at night.”

Prior to joining Benesch, Anu served as Assistant General Counsel at WPG (formerly Washington Prime Group Inc.). She earned her J.D., cum laude, from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School and her MBA, magna cum laude, from The College of Saint Rose. She also holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University at Albany.

Benesch’s nationally recognized Real Estate Practice Group is one of the largest dedicated real estate practices in the U.S. The group represents buyers, sellers, developers, business owners, landlords, tenants, lenders and borrowers in some of the most complex and high-profile acquisition, disposition, financing, leasing and development projects in the country. Our practice is recognized by both Chambers® 2025 and 2025 Best Lawyers® “Best Law Firms.”
