Luke has experience analyzing privacy and real estate matters as well as working on IP and technology transaction matters; and conducting privacy work related to federal cybersecurity regulations, changes in U.S. state privacy laws, and foreign jurisdiction privacy laws.
A data protection lawyer by trade, Luke represents clients in various capacities, including on negotiating technology transactions and assisting companies commercialize and protect their intellectual property. Additionally, Luke has experience navigating the growing and complex U.S. state data protection regime, as well as other data protection laws and regulations such as HIPAA, COPPA, Canada’s PIPEDA, and Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation. Luke has represented numerous clients, with domestic and international business operations, in developing and implementing compliant data security and privacy policies and procedures. Prior to joining Benesch, Luke gained a wide variety of legal experience while interning for the Honorable Diane S. Sykes in the U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, serving as a Summer Associate for a national law firm, and clerking in the legal department for a Fortune 500 company.
