Stanton’s practice focuses on complex commercial, consumer privacy, and employment litigation in both federal and state courts, as well as in arbitration and other alternative dispute resolution forums.
Stanton represents companies in individual and class action lawsuits, as well as mass arbitrations, involving key federal privacy statutes such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA), along with related state laws like the California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA).
Stanton also advises businesses on a range of employment matters, with a focus on interpreting federal and state statutes and regulations to help clients assess risk and ensure compliance. His work includes reviewing and developing employment policies, evaluating contracting practices, and providing strategic guidance on day-to-day workplace issues. In addition to counseling, Stanton represents clients in employment litigation involving restrictive covenants, trade secrets, and other intellectual property-related disputes, as well as claims arising under Title VII, Title II, and analogous state anti-discrimination laws.
Before joining Benesch, Stanton gained broad litigation experience as a law clerk to the Hon. Jeffery P. Hopkins of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and in the Columbus City Attorney’s Office.
Stanton also provides pro bono legal services to clients on a wide range of matters.
