Benesch Partner Holly Gross was quoted in Knox Pages discussing the first round of state funding applications and what municipalities and stakeholders can expect as the process moves forward.
Gross noted that Round 1 applications closed on January 16, with 49 entities submitting proposals totaling $100 million, while $10 million has been allocated for the round. She emphasized the value of reviewing the initial submissions to better understand how the state may prioritize projects.
“We think there’s a lot of benefit to seeing what the first round of applications look like, what we can learn from them, and see how the state prioritize those projects,” Gross said.
She also explained that Benesch will be watching closely to see whether the state opts to fund a small number of high-dollar projects or distributes awards across a larger number of lower-funded initiatives, noting that the maximum award is $2.5 million per project.
