Benesch is pleased to announce that Marc S. Blubaugh has been elected the Secretary/Treasurer of the Transportation Lawyers Association's (TLA) Executive Committee. Mr. Blubaugh also received TLA's Distinguished Service Award for 2009-2010.
TLA is an independent, international bar association whose members assist providers and commercial users of logistics and transportation services. TLA is dedicated to keeping its members ahead of the constant changes in all aspects of the specialized legal environment affecting the transportation community, regardless of the particular legal discipline involved.
Mr. Blubaugh will serve a one-year term as Secretary/Treasurer. In addition to his duties as Secretary/Treasurer, he will serve as a voting member of the TLA Executive Committee.
TLA's Distinguished Service Award is given to a TLA member who devotes countless hours of time and other contributions to the betterment of the association. Mr. Blubaugh was recognized for his intensive involvement in organizational and educational programming for TLA when he was presented with the award during the 2010 TLA Annual Conference and CTLA Mid-Year Meeting held April 27-May 1, 2010 in Hilton Head, SC. Mr. Blubaugh has chaired numerous TLA educational programs over the years and has spoken on many TLA panels encompassing a wide variety of transportation and logistics issues.
Mr. Blubaugh represents international and domestic third-party logistics providers, carriers of all modes, and shippers and consignees in surface, air and ocean disputes. He litigates throughout the U.S. in both state and federal courts, handling complex commercial disputes involving loss of goods, damage to goods, delay damages, and personal injuries arising out of the transportation of goods. He also represents clients in actions relating to freight charges, fuel surcharges, breaches of intermodal agreements, subrogation and indemnification against others in the supply chain, and other commercial controversies, such as employment disputes, lease disputes, unfair trade practices litigation, general contract litigation, and administrative disputes. As Vice-Chair of the firm’s Transportation & Logistics Practice Group, Mr. Blubaugh routinely consults for transportation and logistics industry clients on a wide variety of business issues, including contract improvement, best practices, acquisition opportunities and regulatory advice. He has published transportation and logistics articles in international, national and local media and speaks regularly at industry events nationwide.
