Benesch was the 10th most active law firm in the United States for trade secret litigation in 2025 and over the past three years, according to the latest Lex Machina Trade Secret Litigation Report.
In addition to the firm, individual Benesch attorneys were recognized for their work in trade secret litigation, further underscoring the firm’s national presence and impact in this highly competitive area:
- J. Scott Humphrey, chair of the firm’s Trade Secrets, Restrictive Covenants & Unfair Competition Practice Group was the 3rd most active trade secret litigator in the U.S. in 2025 and the most active trade secret litigator over the last three years.
- Partner Noelle B. Torrice was the 7th most active trade secret litigator in 2025 and the 10th most active over the last three years.
- Senior Managing Associate Katie Burnett was the 10th most active trade secret litigator in 2025 and the 7th most active over the last three years.
These distinctions reflect Benesch’s commitment to delivering knowledgeable, results-driven counsel for clients facing complex trade secret matters across a range of industries, including technology, healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, AI and financial services.
“We are honored to receive this recognition, which is particularly notable given that we are the only firm of our size to appear in the top 10,” said J. Scott Humphrey, chair of Benesch’s Trade Secrets, Restrictive Covenants & Unfair Competition Practice Group. “The other nine firms are two to four times larger than Benesch. Our continued distinctions underscore our team’s dedication to providing sophisticated, strategic counsel to clients navigating the most challenging trade secret issues.”
This news comes on the heels of Benesch’s recent inclusion in the World Intellectual Property Review (WIPR) 2025 USA Trade Secrets Rankings, which highlights top law firms and practitioners for their proficiency in trade secrets protection, enforcement and high-stakes litigation, and its Trade Secret Powerhouse ranking in the 2025 IAM Patent 1000 Guide for excellence in trade secret litigation.
Benesch’s firm’s Trade Secrets, Restrictive Covenants & Unfair Competition Practice Group draws on more than 100 years of combined experience and is nationally recognized for its work in this evolving field.
