Jason brings the experience of an in-house litigator to his Benesch clients and is well-suited to addressing the myriad of legal issues faced by companies of all sizes and their key individuals. Prior to joining Benesch, Jason served as Director of Litigation and Legal Affairs for a rapidly growing, publicly traded company in a highly competitive, highly litigious industry. While there, he directed the successful defense of multiple high-stakes cases and supported the company’s recruiting and expansion efforts, leading to 40% annual revenue growth for four consecutive years, while managing legal risk and reducing litigation exposure.
Jason’s practice focuses on complex commercial business litigation, including class actions and intellectual property matters. He has meaningful stand-up trial experience and is experienced in all phases of litigation in various state and federal courts.
He frequently serves as lead counsel in class actions, with a particular focus on cases alleging false advertising, false labeling, and deceptive practices addressing the multitude of federal, state and local consumer protection laws.
Jason also represents companies and individuals in disputes over intellectual property rights, including patents and trade secrets, employee-mobility (non-compete and no-solicit), fiduciary duties, product liability, and contractual disputes, including licensing and royalty disputes. His strategic acumen extends to compliance, where he has developed and implemented policies and procedures for Anti-Kickback Law, Stark Law and HIPAA compliance.
Jason’s practice is not limited to the courtroom. He routinely leverages his in-house experience to provide clients counseling and strategic assistance to avoiding litigation at the outset. He regularly reviews product labels, websites, and consumer outreach strategies to evaluate and minimize class action risk, including for matters related to health and nutrition, “Made in the USA,” and “Greenwashing” claims as well as ADA website accessibility.
