Benesch Recognized as #1 Largest Law Firm in Northeast Ohio for Second Consecutive Year

Benesch has been named the largest law firm in Northeast Ohio by Crain’s Cleveland Business, retaining the top spot in the publication’s annual ranking of the region’s largest law firms. The ranking is based on local attorney headcount, with Benesch reporting 192 attorneys in the Cleveland market and more than 490 attorneys nationwide.

“Cleveland has been our home since 1938,” said Gregg Eisenberg, Benesch’s Managing Partner, who has led the firm since 2015. “That’s something we take great pride in. It is an incredible strength to have our headquarters here, and we will continue to grow here and in every other office as well.”

Benesch also maintains an attorney retention rate in the high 80% range and has expanded through a strategic lateral hiring approach. “We’ve been very successful with our lateral growth strategy, where we’re typically recruiting from the Am Law 50 to Benesch,” Eisenberg said. The firm’s recent addition of 20 attorneys from Reed Smith has supported expansion into new markets, including the opening of a Miami office.
