Dialysis, Nephrology & Vascular Access Tear Sheet
Overview
Our dialysis, nephrology, and vascular access attorneys provide more than just legal advice, but instead serve as trusted counselors and business advisors to their clients—many of whom we have served for more than three decades. Our attorneys are at the forefront of tracking and responding to federal and state legislation and industry hot topics impacting the delivery of dialysis, nephrology, and access-related care. They regularly publish articles for Nephrology News & Issues and other trade publications and speak at industry-focused conferences, including those held by the Renal Physicians Association, Renal Healthcare Association, the Renal Executive Forum, the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology, the Outpatient Endovascular and Interventional Society, the Vascular Access Society of the Americas, and others. Collectively, this specialized group of attorneys has more than a century of experience serving this critical industry.
Our multidisciplinary team allows us to represent industry stakeholders on a wide range of transactional, regulatory, litigation, reimbursement, and fraud and abuse and investigative matters. We have highly experienced attorneys specializing in tax, labor and employment, real estate and construction, banking and finance, white collar defense, noncompetition law, and intellectual property that regularly address both “bet the company” and day-to-day needs of our clients.
We regularly represent clients in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances and affiliations, financing, management relationships, governance, tax exemption, fraud and abuse, responding to government investigations, physician relationships, accountable care and capitated care arrangements (including ESCO, KCF, CKCC, and commercial payor models), payor contracting, purchasing and vendor relationships, HIPAA and other privacy and security matters, executive compensation, restrictive covenant disputes, corporate compliance plans and training, medical staff organization matters, discipline and peer review, and litigation.
With Benesch’s national reach but regional rate structure, our experienced industry team adds value by understanding and addressing objectives and goals quickly and efficiently. Since we work with clients across the nation, we are also able to provide industry and market intelligence for our clients. Our ability to add value in these ways distinguishes Benesch from other firms.

The LEAD Model—Kidney Care’s Value-Based Care Journey LEADs Here
For more than a decade, nephrology practices have participated in Innovation Center kidney‑focused models—beginning with ESRD Seamless Care Organizations (“ESCOs”) under the Comprehensive ESRD Care (“CEC”) Model (2015–2021), followed by today’s Kidney Care Choices (“KCC”) Model (2022–2027).
