Overview

Tara Chandler is a commercial litigator who focuses on complex disputes, including high-stakes federal litigation, bankruptcy-related matters, creditors’ rights and white collar cases. She represents institutional clients in matters involving significant financial exposure and multifaceted legal and factual issues.

Tara has played a key role on litigation teams handling high-value claims, including matters arising from the collapse of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities, one of the largest and most closely watched financial fraud cases in history. In that role, Tara helped develop case strategy, analyzed intricate financial transactions, and supported recovery efforts involving millions of dollars in disputed transfers.

Her experience spans all phases of litigation, including managing complex discovery, preparing for and conducting depositions and mediations, working with expert witnesses, and supporting overall case strategy.

Thoughtful and analytical, Tara dissects complicated fact patterns, gains a deep understanding of every angle of a case and then develops clear, grounded strategies. She is equally skilled in advancing a case aggressively and resolving it efficiently when litigation is not in the client’s best interest. Taking a measured, rational approach, she navigates contentious matters effectively while maintaining a productive working relationship with opposing counsel.

Clients value Tara’s thoroughness, organization and focus on their priorities. She is deeply committed to protecting both their legal and reputational interests, recognizing that how a dispute is managed can be as important as the outcome.

Before joining Benesch, Tara was a staff attorney at BakerHostetler, where she handled complex commercial and bankruptcy-related matters. Prior to entering private practice, she gained experience at the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of the United States Trustee in Bankruptcy, working on bankruptcy and regulatory issues.
