Jacob "Jake" Bennett

Overview

Jake focuses his practice on data privacy and cybersecurity, advising domestic and international companies on compliance, risk management and technology transactions. He helps clients navigate an evolving and fragmented privacy landscape, mitigate regulatory risk and implement scalable privacy frameworks across their organizations.

Jake’s experience includes developing and implementing privacy compliance programs, drafting and negotiating technology and commercial agreements, and advising on regulatory requirements that affect both day‑to‑day operations and cross‑border transactions. He also regularly conducts privacy and technology due diligence in M&A transactions and advises clients on the responsible implementation of artificial intelligence. He has worked across a variety of data-rich industries, including manufacturing, entertainment, technology and consumer products.    

Prior to joining Benesch, Jake gained valuable experience advising clients at a mid-sized, full-service law firm serving Japanese and European-based companies entering and operating in the United States. He also completed privacy-focused internships with Airbnb and the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Privacy and Civil Liberties, providing him with a well-rounded perspective on how privacy requirements are developed, interpreted and applied in practice.
