August 27, 2024
Benesch is pleased to announce that Juan Martinez, an associate in the firm’s Litigation Practice Group, has been elected as Vice Chair of Public Relations for the Multicultural Judges and Lawyers Section (MJL) of the Delaware State Bar Association (DSBA). The MJL Section is committed to advancing the interests of attorneys, judges and community members from diverse ethnic backgrounds. It fosters dialogue, understanding and collaboration within the legal profession and the broader community.
“Juan’s election to this role reflects his dedication to advancing diversity and inclusion within the legal profession,” said Managing Partner Gregg Eisenberg. “We are incredibly proud of his achievements and commitment to making a meaningful impact.”
In his new role, Juan will be responsible for organizing media and public relations efforts for the MJL Section, coordinating communications with the DSBA, and ensuring the Section’s initiatives and concerns are effectively communicated to the public. He previously served as Secretary of the Board from 2022 to 2024.
The Board, elected in July, began its term in early August. Each member will serve a one-year term until July 2025, when the next election will take place.
In his legal practice, Juan focuses on complex bankruptcy and commercial litigation matters. He has extensive experience representing a diverse range of clients, including debtors, creditors, lenders, and parties in adversary proceedings, across chapter 11 and chapter 7 bankruptcy cases nationwide.
In addition to his involvement with the MJL Section, Juan is an active member of the Delaware Hispanic Bar Association and the Hispanic National Bar Association. He is deeply committed to diversity and inclusion, recently sharing his experiences as an LGBTQ+ attorney of color in Delaware during a panel discussion.
