Benesch Continues New York Expansion Adding Real Estate Partner Laura Mehl Sugarman

Benesch, one of the fastest-growing AmLaw 200 law firms, has further expanded the core team in its New York office, welcoming partner Laura Mehl Sugarman to the firm’s Real Estate & Environmental Practice Group.

Laura represents national and local developers, owners, landlords, tenants, lenders, borrowers and investors in a wide range of real estate transactions. With expertise in handling complex real estate matters — including financing, acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, air rights and corporate structuring — Laura is positioned to provide sophisticated real estate advising to Benesch clients.

With a focus on condominium and cooperative development and management, Laura’s reach includes both national and international clients. In addition, she has experience at the intersection of not-for-profit law and real estate and has particular knowledge of the structuring and formation of leasehold condominiums. Laura has previously served in the office of the New York State Comptroller, the United States Attorneys’ Office, and the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation Department. Laura earned her J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and her B.A. in Journalism and History from New York University.

This summer, Benesch expanded its footprint in New York City’s Midtown Business District with the addition of offices at 1155 Avenue of the Americas. With space to accommodate expansion, Benesch’s New York office aims to build on the momentum of the firm’s growth across multiple markets.
