Benesch Managing Partner Gregg Eisenberg and Executive Chairman Ira Kaplan Named to Cleveland Magazine’s “Cleveland 500” for Fourth Consecutive Year

Benesch is proud to announce that Managing Partner Gregg Eisenberg and Executive Chairman Ira Kaplan have been named to Cleveland Magazine’s 2025 “Cleveland 500” list, recognizing their exemplary leadership, influence and lasting impact on both the firm and the Cleveland community. This marks the fourth consecutive year Gregg and Ira have been included since debuting on the list in 2022.

Published annually, the “Cleveland 500” honors the most influential leaders across Northeast Ohio. The list features individuals from the business, professional, education, entertainment and technology sectors who have made meaningful contributions to the region’s growth and vitality.

Gregg Eisenberg

Serving as Benesch’s Managing Partner since 2015, Gregg’s visionary leadership has led to the firm significantly expanding its footprint and market presence by successfully opening offices in Chicago, San Francisco and New York. His lateral growth strategy has resulted in more than 370 attorneys joining the firm, bringing it to more than 450 attorneys today. Gregg has overseen a $266 million (326%) increase in revenue during his tenure and a 68-spot advancement on the Am Law 200 since the firm’s 2017 debut on the list.

In addition to serving as Managing Partner, Gregg maintains an active corporate practice representing some of the nation’s largest corporate buyers and private equity firms. He is deeply involved in the Cleveland community, serving on the boards of the Greater Cleveland Partnership, Kaulig Giving and Empower Sports. He also leads the firm’s partnership with the Alfred A. Benesch School, a Cleveland public school supported by the firm through mentorship, programming and community engagement.

Ira Kaplan

Ira serves as Benesch’s Executive Chairman and previously served as Managing Partner from 2008 to 2014. Over more than 40 years with the firm, he has also co-chaired the Corporate and Private Equity Practice Groups. His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, and public and private debt and equity financings. Ira works extensively in the healthcare services sector, advising clients in areas such as behavioral health, dental service organizations, physician practice management, revenue cycle management and home health.

In addition to his legal practice, Ira is known for his longstanding civic leadership. He currently serves on the boards of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland and Downtown Cleveland Alliance and is board chair of the Mt. Sinai Health Foundation. He has also held leadership roles with United Way of Greater Cleveland, the Cleveland Leadership Center, Engage Cleveland, Bellefaire JCB, Wingspan Care Group, Council Gardens and Menorah Park Center for Senior Living.
