Benesch Partner Alan E. Schabes Appointed to American Health Care Association (AHCA) Legal and Reimbursement Committees

December 16, 2025

Benesch is pleased to announce that Alan E. Schabes, a partner in the firm’s Healthcare+ Practice Group and member of the executive committee, has been appointed to both the Legal and Reimbursement Committees of the American Health Care Association (AHCA). He previously served on the AHCA’s Legal Committee for more than a decade.

Alan’s appointment to these important committees reflects his accomplished track record and deep commitment to advancing the long-term and post-acute care sector. The AHCA is the nation’s largest association representing long-term and post-acute care providers, with more than 15,000 member facilities dedicated to improving care for millions of elderly and disabled individuals.

With a national healthcare law practice, Alan advises a broad range of healthcare organizations—including private equity and venture capital investment firms, hospitals, post-acute care providers, behavioral health providers, physician and dental management service organizations, integrated delivery systems, and ancillary service providers—on transactional and regulatory matters. His extensive experience includes reimbursement, compliance and regulatory issues that are central to the work of the AHCA.

Alan has served in various other leadership roles within the healthcare legal community, including long-standing service on the American Health Lawyers Association Fellows Coordinating Council. He is widely regarded for his pragmatic approach and ability to deliver results under pressure.
