Jonathan Todd, co-lead of Benesch’s Transportation & Logistics Practice Group, was recently quoted in Logistics Management regarding the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative’s decision to implement new tariffs on 60 trading partners based on forced labor enforcement commitments.
In the article, Jonathan discusses the practical impact of the new tariffs on importers, ongoing tariff litigation and the increasing focus on trade enforcement and compliance.
“The monetary impact is not going to be a shock to many importers. In a way, it can be viewed as status quo, which gets to the overall theme that this is step three in what was attempted with IEEPA,” Jonathan said. “There will be more enforcement and there will be more scrutiny, and everyone needs to prepare as best as possible to defend whatever positions they have taken as they have navigated these waters.”
