Benesch Partner Juan Morado Jr. Receives HLAI’s 2024 President’s Award for Second Time
October 4, 2024
Benesch is pleased to announce that Partner Juan Morado Jr. has received the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois (HLAI) 2024 President’s Award for the second time. This award honors a member of the President’s Board who demonstrates exemplary initiative in achieving HLAI’s mission, vision and values through mentorship, leadership and engagement in one or more official or appointed capacities.
Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois (HLAI) is a not-for-profit corporation established in 1995 from the merger of the Latin American Bar Association and the Mexican American Lawyers Association and has supported the Hispanic legal community in Illinois since 1970. Their mission is to promote professionalism, legal education, civil rights, and networking opportunities for Hispanic attorneys and communities in Illinois.
“Juan’s recognition with the HLAI President’s Award–his second time receiving this honor–is truly a testament to his selfless commitment to the organization, its mission, and the entire legal community,” said Managing Partner Gregg Eisenberg. “His unwavering dedication and exemplary leadership inspires us all. We are incredibly proud of Juan for setting such a high standard for excellence and engagement.”
Juan is a Partner in Benesch’s Healthcare+ Practice Group and Co-Chair of the firm’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee. He provides strategic counsel on healthcare regulatory and policy matters, advising hospitals, health systems, and other clients on compliance and regulatory requirements. Juan is a leading Certificate of Need attorney in Illinois, assisting with complex facility changes and investigations.
Beyond his legal practice, Juan is deeply committed to community service. He serves as a board director and Vice-President of La Casa Norte, a Chicago-based organization that provides housing for children and families facing homelessness. He is also Chair Emeritus of the Latino Leadership Council and holds board positions with the Metropolitan Pier Exposition Authority, Illinois Supreme Court Committee on Rules, Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois, National Kidney Foundation of Illinois, HLAI Charities and the We CAN Achieve Foundation. Juan’s dedication to social justice and education is evident through his active participation in various civic and professional organizations, making a significant impact on the community.
Juan will receive the President’s Award at the HLAI & HLAI Charities Annual Black-Tie Gala on Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, at the Aon Grand Ballroom at Navy Pier in Chicago. This prestigious event draws hundreds of esteemed judges, attorneys, elected officials from the city, state and federal levels, as well as community leaders to honor the awardees and celebrate the legal community.
