Benesch Welcomes Brian Cullen as Of Counsel in the Transportation Group
July 20, 2023
Benesch has added Brian Cullen as Of Counsel to its nationally preeminent Transportation and Logistics practice group. He has a decade of experience counseling clients, focusing on supply chain & distribution management, transportation, and logistics technology among other things. Cullen joins from Schneider National, Inc., one of North America’s largest providers of surface transportation and logistics solutions, where he was in-house counsel.
“We are delighted to have Brian joining our group,” shared Marc S. Blubaugh, Co-Chair of the firm’s Transportation & Logistics Practice Group. “Deepening our bench with industry-savvy attorneys like Brian ensures that we are in the strongest possible position to continue delivering top-notch work product and extraordinary client service to our ever-expanding portfolio of transportation and logistics clients.”
During his 8-year tenure at Schneider National Inc., Brian had, among other things, overall legal responsibility for the intermodal rail, supply chain management, warehouse distribution, port drayage, and Mexican service offerings. More generally, he drafted, reviewed, and negotiated hundreds of contracts (including with several Fortune 500 companies and Class I railroads) and provided advice on a wide range of regulatory matters including CARB, import/export, and key issues in international transactions. He was in private practice for a couple of years before going in-house at Schneider. Brian regularly advises C-suite and senior-level business leaders on legal and risk matters.
Brian also received Schneider’s Presidential Award for Operation Excellence in 2021 for creatively solving challenges involved in the importation of new intermodal containers from China during the global supply chain crisis. The solution was featured in a Wall Street Journal article.
Brian earned his J.D. from Mitchell Hamline School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Southern Indiana. Brian is working on his M.B.A. from the University of Southern Indiana, with an anticipated graduation in August 2023.
