Benesch Welcomes Partner Matthew David Ridings to Firm’s White Collar Practice Group

Benesch, one of the fastest-growing firms on the AmLaw 200 list, is pleased to announce the addition of Matthew David Ridings as a partner in its nationwide White Collar, Government Investigations & Regulatory Compliance and Antitrust practice.

Ridings, who is based in the Cleveland office, focuses his practice on government enforcement, investigations, and compliance matters, with specific emphasis on antitrust, anti-corruption, and product distribution. He has successfully tried numerous criminal and civil cases involving allegations of antitrust violations, corruption, and other competition-related violations, including matters related to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO).

Ridings also conducts high-stakes internal investigations and represents and advises corporate executives, multinational corporations, and their boards of directors in response to civil and criminal inquiries from the Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). When parallel investigations including international inquiries, Ridings draws on his substantial experience managing investigations involving the European Commission, Japan Fair Trade Commission and the Canadian Competition Bureau, among others.

Ridings is keenly interested in leveraging risk assessments, training initiatives, and policy frameworks to foster ethical workplace environments. He has completed extensive training to become a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP), providing counsel to numerous multi-national companies, guiding them through risk assessments and evaluations, crafting and assessing compliance protocols, and spearheading global due antitrust and anti-corruption due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.

Prior to joining Benesch, Ridings was a partner with Thompson Hine. He holds a B.S. in Marketing from the University of Indiana and a J.D. from Washington and Lee University School of Law.
