Benesch Welcomes Veteran Prosecutor and Big Law Partner Kevin Frankel to Litigation and White Collar Groups
September 11, 2025
Benesch is pleased to welcome seasoned trial attorney Kevin Frankel to its San Francisco office as a partner in its Litigation and White Collar, Government Investigations & Regulatory Compliance Practice Groups. A former prosecutor with nearly two decades of experience, Kevin represents some of the world’s most prominent financial institutions, corporations and executives in high-stakes “bet-the-company” litigation, including trials, investigations and regulatory enforcement proceedings involving state attorneys general.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Kevin to our San Francisco team,” said San Francisco Partner-in-Charge Stephanie Sheridan. “With his extensive trial experience and deep knowledge of state government, we’re looking forward to further building our office’s bench strength and growing our reputation as a litigation powerhouse.”
“I’m excited to join Benesch because the firm delivers exceptional service, legal skill and support to clients when they need it most,” said Kevin. “I believe litigation is a team sport and I look forward to working with a group of attorneys who share my people-first approach to the law.”
Kevin maintains a broad litigation practice with a particular focus on defending clients in government investigations, including consumer protection violations, antitrust actions and complex financial crimes. He has also tried cases involving contract disputes, constitutional claims and issues of first impression.
For six years, Kevin served as New York Assistant Attorney General and Special Assistant District Attorney in the Major Economic Crimes Bureau of the New York County District Attorney’s Office. During his tenure across three administrations at the New York State Office of the Attorney General, he oversaw civil investigations and prosecuted white-collar crimes involving public servants and elected officials. He held the record for the most jury trials in the Criminal Division and secured the highest number of convictions in the Public Integrity Bureau. In recognition of his service, Kevin received the 2021 Louis J. Lefkowitz Award, the attorney general’s highest commendation.
Prior to joining Benesch, Kevin chaired the State Attorneys General Practice at McGuireWoods. He earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School and B.S. and B.A. from the University of California, Davis.
Benesch’s San Francisco office has seen remarkable growth since opening in 2019, more than tripling in size in the past two and a half years alone. The office recently expanded its footprint by nearly 70% with the addition of another floor and is currently home to nearly 30 attorneys.
