Partner Jonathan Todd Quoted in Sourcing Journal on U.S.-Canada Trade Tensions and Supply Chain Challenges

Jonathan Todd, Partner and Co-Lead of Benesch’s Transportation & Logistics Practice Group, was quoted in a recent Sourcing Journal article examining the impact of escalating U.S.-Canada trade tensions, tariffs and supply chain uncertainty on North American trade.

In the article, “It’s a ‘Dark’ Time for North American Trade, But US Companies Can Learn From Recent History,” Todd discussed how ongoing trade disputes are causing companies to delay investments, diversify sourcing strategies and strengthen trade compliance efforts amid an increasingly volatile regulatory environment.

“People did go pencils-down on investment, which was the entire objective, if you will, of this trade strategy,” Todd said. “We need to expect that the landed cost of goods will be higher than it was in the past, and that trade will be more volatile than it was in the past, and will continue to be so.”

Todd’s comments highlight the significant challenges businesses face as they navigate shifting trade policies, rising compliance obligations, and the need for greater supply chain resilience.
