San Francisco Chronicle Names Benesch a 2025 Top Workplace in San Francisco
July 7, 2025
Benesch is proud to announce that the firm has been recognized as a 2025 Top Workplace® in San Francisco by the San Francisco Chronicle, ranking #30 among small businesses. This is the first time Benesch has received this recognition in San Francisco, underscoring the strength of Benesch’s culture and the firm’s continued momentum in one of the country’s most competitive legal markets.
The Top Workplaces awards are based entirely on employee feedback gathered through a confidential third-party survey administered by Energage, a leading employee engagement technology provider. The survey measures key drivers of workplace satisfaction, including feeling respected and supported, enabled to grow and empowered to execute. Organizations are selected for cultivating people-first cultures where employees feel valued, supported and inspired.
“This recognition is deeply meaningful because it reflects the voices of our people,” said Benesch Chief Human Resources Officer Liz Gillmore. “To be named a Top Workplace speaks to the strength of our culture and the intentional way we invest in our talent. We’re building a firm where people feel seen, heard and valued, and we’re committed to growing in ways that reflect and reinforce those values.”
Since opening in 2019, Benesch’s San Francisco office has grown significantly and is now home to 27 attorneys from diverse backgrounds, including BigLaw, boutique firms and in-house roles. This blend of experiences contributes to the office’s deep bench strength and breadth of practice. Many attorneys cite the firm’s entrepreneurial spirit, collegial culture and the freedom to shape their practices to better serve clients as key reasons for making the move.
With an industry-leading lateral retention rate, Benesch has been repeatedly recognized for its workplace culture. Earlier this year, the firm was named to U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 list of Best Companies to Work For for the second consecutive year. In 2024, Benesch was also ranked #58 on Newsweek’s list of America’s Most Loved Workplaces and received eight additional honors from the Best Practice Institute, recognizing the firm as a top workplace for LGBTQ+, parents and caregivers, veterans, volunteers, wellness, women, young professionals and career advancement.
“Earning a Top Workplaces award is a badge of honor for companies, especially because it comes authentically from their employees,” said Eric Rubino, CEO of Energage. “That’s something to be proud of. In today’s market, leaders must ensure they’re allowing employees to have a voice and be heard. That’s paramount. Top Workplaces do this, and it pays dividends.”
