Overview

Nicholas P. Lacey is a commercial litigator who represents clients in a wide range of business disputes, with a particular focus on transportation and logistics litigation. Nick helps clients navigate complex disputes efficiently and strategically, with an emphasis on practical solutions that align with their business objectives.

Nick has significant experience representing transportation and logistics clients in matters involving Carmack Amendment claims, FAAAA preemption issues, freight charge disputes, cargo claims, broker-carrier disputes, and other transportation-related litigation. He also has substantial experience handling matters before the Federal Maritime Commission, where he assists clients with disputes involving ocean transportation, detention and demurrage, shipping practices, and related regulatory issues.

In addition to his transportation practice, Nick regularly handles general commercial litigation matters in state and federal courts. His experience includes preparing dispositive motions, managing written discovery, taking and defending depositions, and developing litigation strategies designed to position clients for successful and cost-effective resolution. Nick works closely with clients at each stage of a dispute to assess risk, evaluate leverage, and pursue outcomes that make business sense.

Nick also has significant experience in Ohio foreclosure and receivership proceedings. He represents clients in matters involving distressed real estate, enforcement of secured rights, and court-supervised receiverships.
