Benesch is proud to announce that the firm has been recognized as a 2025 Top Workplace® in Northeast Ohio by Cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer, ranking #10 among midsize employers in the area. This marks the firm’s 13th year earning a spot among Cleveland’s top workplaces, a meaningful honor that reflects Benesch’s strong culture and ongoing commitment to its people.
This year, 188 companies, nonprofits, schools and organizations were honored as Northeast Ohio Top Workplaces, split into four categories: largest (1,000+ employees), large (500-999 employees), mid-size (150-499 employees) and small (149 or fewer employees).
The Top Workplaces awards are based entirely on employee feedback gathered through a confidential third-party survey administered by Energage, a leading employee engagement technology provider. The survey measures key drivers of workplace satisfaction, including feeling respected and supported, enabled to grow and empowered to execute. Organizations are selected for cultivating people-first cultures where employees feel valued, supported and inspired.
“This recognition is deeply meaningful because it reflects the voices of our people,” said Benesch Chief Human Resources Officer Liz Gillmore. “To be named a Top Workplace speaks to the strength of our culture and the intentional way we invest in our talent. We’re building a firm where people feel seen, heard and valued, and we’re committed to growing in ways that reflect and reinforce those values.”
Benesch has proudly called Cleveland home since 1938. As the firm's oldest and largest office, its growth has fueled the expansion of Benesch’s footprint across the country. Benesch has been recognized as the second-largest firm in Cleveland by Crain’s and has grown to nearly 180 attorneys.
With an industry-leading lateral retention rate, Benesch has been repeatedly recognized for its workplace culture. Earlier this year, the firm was named to U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 list of Best Companies to Work For for the second consecutive year. In 2024, Benesch was also ranked #58 on Newsweek’s list of America’s Most Loved Workplaces and received eight additional honors from the Best Practice Institute, recognizing the firm as a top workplace for LGBTQ+, parents and caregivers, veterans, volunteers, wellness, women, young professionals and career advancement.
“Earning a Top Workplaces award is a badge of honor for companies, especially because it comes authentically from their employees,” said Eric Rubino, CEO of Energage. “That's something to be proud of. In today's market, leaders must ensure they’re allowing employees to have a voice and be heard. That's paramount. Top Workplaces do this, and it pays dividends.”
