Benesch Recognized by Crain’s Cleveland as Largest Law Firm in Northeast Ohio
August 18, 2025
Benesch is proud to announce that it is now the largest law firm in Northeast Ohio, according to Crain’s Cleveland Business. This milestone underscores the firm’s deep roots in Cleveland and its continued commitment to the region as part of its national platform.
Founded in Cleveland in 1938, Benesch has remained anchored in the city while expanding to six offices nationwide. The firm recently made a long-term commitment to Key Tower as its Cleveland headquarters, reinforcing its position as a leader in the market.
“Cleveland is where our story began, and it remains a vital part of our future,” said Managing Partner Gregg Eisenberg. “This achievement is not just about numbers. It reflects our client-driven approach and growing alongside our clients, anticipating their evolving needs while ensuring our work aligns with their business objectives. We are bullish on our business, and we will continue to grow with purpose.”
Benesch’s Cleveland office is now home to more than 180 attorneys and 385 total employees, part of its 460-attorney team nationwide. The firm’s Cleveland attorney headcount has doubled since Gregg became Managing Partner in 2015, and it has experienced 85 percent growth firmwide across all six of its offices over the past five years. Benesch’s growth strategy remains focused on building depth in its core practices and industries rather than expansion for expansion’s sake.
“Locally, the benefit of our growth is that our Cleveland-area clients have a national team with the depth to handle all of their matters,” Gregg said.
Benesch’s achievement as the largest law firm in Northeast Ohio reflects its steady, intentional growth and its ability to attract and retain top legal talent while maintaining the culture that has defined the firm for more than 85 years.
