Benesch is pleased to announce that partners David W. Mellott, Kevin D. Margolis and Jeffrey J. Wild have accepted new leadership roles within the firm.
Mr. Mellott has been named Benesch’s first General Counsel. Mr. Mellott served as Benesch’s Practice Group Leader for a dozen years and remains a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. His practice involves complex commercial litigation in various manufacturing and service industries. He also defends claims and lawsuits against corporate directors and officers, handles business ownership disputes, and prosecutes commercial insurance coverage recovery actions for policyholders, including claims under directors and officers liability insurance. Mr. Mellott received his J.D. from The Ohio State University, Moritz College of Law and his B.A., magna cum laude, from Miami University
Mr. Margolis has been named Benesch’s new Practice Group Leader, succeeding to the position held by Mr. Mellott. Mr. Margolis served as the Chair of Benesch’s Real Estate & Environmental Practice Group for the past twelve years and is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. He focuses his practice on environmental risk management and the environmental aspects of business and real estate transactions, with a particular emphasis on the redevelopment and environmental remediation of brownfield sites. Mr. Margolis received his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and his B.A. from Northwestern University.
Mr. Wild has been named chair of the Real Estate & Environmental Practice Group, succeeding to the position held by Mr. Margolis. He has worked together with Mr. Margolis for a number of years as vice chair and has helped the group grow regionally and nationally to include more than two dozen attorneys. Mr. Wild focuses his practice on commercial real estate matters, with an emphasis on development, acquisitions, dispositions, financing and joint venture work. He has extensive experience in structuring, drafting and negotiating all types of complex development, redevelopment and financing documents. Mr. Wild recently spent a significant portion of his time counseling clients in connection with the restructuring and repositioning of troubled real estate developments. Mr. Wild received his J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and his B.A., cum laude, from Yeshiva University.
