August 6, 2024
Benesch, one of the fastest-growing firms on the AmLaw 200 list, is pleased to announce the addition of Tara Raghavan as a Partner in its Intellectual Property Practice Group.
Tara, based in the firm’s Chicago office, specializes in complex patent litigation, counseling, and opinion work within the life sciences and pharmaceutical industries, with a particular focus on the Hatch-Waxman Amendments to the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FDCA). She is also registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
“Tara is an outstanding addition to our IP group, with her strong focus on patent litigation, counseling, and opinion work in the life sciences and pharmaceutical sectors,” said Benesch Managing Partner Gregg Eisenberg. “Her registration with the USPTO and her ability to manage cases from pre-suit strategy through appeals make her a standout professional. Tara’s proven skills in handling trials, drafting motions and conducting depositions make her an invaluable asset to our growing IP Litigation practice.”
Tara has successfully managed both offense and defense in bench trials and preliminary injunctions and has extensive experience examining key fact and expert witnesses. She has drafted and argued various substantive motions, including claim construction briefs, motions for summary judgment and motions to dismiss. Most recently, she was honored with the Vanguard Award by the Chicago Bar Association in May 2024.
In addition, Tara drafts Petitions for Inter Partes Review, assists clients with contract negotiation and settlement, and manages due diligence and other patent counseling projects. Tara holds a J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law and has earned both a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, each with Highest Distinction, from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
