September 25, 2024
Benesch is pleased to announce that Meegan Brooks, a partner in the firm’s Retail & E-Commerce Practice Group, has been named one of the Daily Journal’s 2024 “Top 40 Under 40” lawyers.
The Daily Journal—one of California’s premier legal publications—puts out the prestigious “Top 40 Under 40” list each year highlighting young, influential attorneys in the state who have demonstrated outstanding legal acumen, leadership and impact in their practices. Honorees are recognized for handling complex, high-profile cases and making significant contributions to the legal profession.
Meegan is a seasoned trial lawyer who has spent her entire career defending retailers, e-commerce companies and manufacturers. She has played a key role in industry-shaping decisions, including significant wins at the Ninth Circuit, California Court of Appeal and New Jersey Supreme Court. Meegan is especially well-known for her decade-long work defending over 70 actions related to pricing, promotions and fees, which includes defending the only pricing case to go to trial in the last decade (where her team won), the only pricing case to win on the merits at summary judgment and the only pricing case to have a dismissal affirmed at the Ninth Circuit.
In the privacy space, Meegan defends retailers and media outlets in actions related to wiretapping laws, VPPA, FACTA and similar statutes. She also serves as outside marketing counsel for numerous retailers, advising on sweepstakes rules, pricing policies, loyalty terms, return policies and customer service issues.
