Hospice News Quotes Rachel Hold-Weiss on CMS’ Hospice Enrollment Moratoria

Rachel Hold-Weiss, partner in Benesch’s Healthcare Practice Group, was quoted in a recent Hospice News article, “Hospice, Home Health Moratoria: What Might Come Next.”

The article examines how CMS’ temporary moratoria on hospice and home health enrollment in Medicare are affecting hospice providers’ growth, acquisitions and expansion plans.

“We have a lot of hospice clients whose business plans involved expansion, so either a new practice location, or certain acquisitions, and so, to a large extent, that’s put on hold,” said Rachel.

She noted that the moratoria have also disrupted transactions, leaving some smaller providers who hoped to sell their businesses unable to move forward with those plans. Rachel also explained that if CMS allows the moratoria to expire, providers could face a bottleneck as they move to resume delayed expansion and transaction plans.
