Benesch Transportation & Logistics Vice Chair Jonathan Todd was quoted in Inbound Logistics on the growing compliance challenges facing shippers amid evolving U.S. and international regulations.
Jonathan noted that U.S. Customs and Border Protection is enforcing customs compliance more aggressively, adding that “when evasion is suspected, the agency’s policy today is to give less weight to mitigating factors.” He cautioned that the cost of non-compliance, especially when duties are intentionally avoided, can be “excessively high.”
