Alexander J. (AJ) Sokoloff

Overview

AJ brings more than 15 years of experience representing commercial real estate lenders in sophisticated financings across the capital stack, advising on their most significant transactions. He counsels clients throughout the financing lifecycle, including origination, acquisition, disposition and workout matters.

He represents a broad range of financial institutions and capital providers, including banks, debt funds, insurance companies, mortgage lenders and mezzanine lenders in fixed- and floating-rate financing transactions. AJ has extensive experience across a wide range of real estate finance matters, including CMBS, portfolio, bridge, bridge-to-agency, bridge-to-secondary-market, syndicated, mezzanine, construction, C-PACE, and USDA loans. He also advises warehouse lenders on the onboarding of pledged whole loans, participations and controlling notes to warehouse facilities.

AJ is particularly recognized for his experience in bridge lending, healthcare lending and warehouse lending. His understanding of evolving market dynamics, lending structures and secondary market considerations enables clients to navigate challenging transactions efficiently while managing risk and achieving their business objectives.

His experience spans a diverse range of asset classes, including multifamily properties, office buildings, healthcare facilities (skilled nursing, assisted living and memory care), hotels, condominiums, single-family rental and build-to-rent communities, self-storage facilities, shopping centers, and other retail, commercial and mixed-use developments.
