CLEVELAND, OH – May, 2007 –Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff LLP is pleased to announce that it has been officially licensed to practice in China, as a foreign law firm. On February 7, 2007, Benesch received its license from the Chinese Ministry of Justice to open its Shanghai law office. Benesch is now one of three law firms in the state of Ohio that has a licensed law office in China. Additionally, Yanping Wang has become a partner in the firm and will be serving as Chief Representative of the firm’s Shanghai office.
Ms. Wang practices in Benesch’s Corporate & Securities Practice Group and is a member of the China Group. Prior to practicing in the U.S., Ms. Wang was admitted to practice in China. She assists clients in establishing a broad range of business relationships in China, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic alliances. A prolific author, Ms. Wang has published several books and articles regarding Chinese commercial law, contracts, and property law while she lived in China. She is a frequent speaker on legal transactions and various aspects of doing business in China. Ms. Wang received her J.D. from The University of Kansas, her Masters of Law from Remnin University of China and her Bachelor of Law from Political Science & Law University of China. Ms. Wang joined Benesch in 2004 after four years of prior U.S. law firm experience and three years of practicing corporate law and teaching law school in China.
Benesch will continue to help U.S. companies as they establish China-related strategic alliances and joint ventures for manufacturing and distribution, establish wholly-owned manufacturing or other business operations in China and acquire the shares or assets of China-based companies. The firm will be able to better serve clients in dealing with governmental and operationally-related legal issues in China. The firm is also positioned to help Chinese companies do business in the U.S.
