April 22, 2024
Benesch, one of the fastest-growing firms on the AmLaw 200 list, is pleased to announce the addition of Melissa Grim as the leader of its Executive Compensation & Benefits practice and a partner in the Corporate & Securities Practice Group in the firm’s Chicago office.
Grim advises clients in connection with a wide range of employee benefits and executive compensation-related matters, including with respect to mergers and acquisitions, spin-offs, divestitures, carve-outs, and restructuring. In the context of corporate transactions, Grim focuses on creating efficient and effective solutions, balancing sophisticated advice with a practical approach, to meet her clients’ goals in each deal and post-closing integration.
“Melissa’s extensive corporate transactions experience, coupled with her reputation as a skilled negotiator who creates value for her clients in each phase of a deal, make her an outstanding addition to the group,” said Gregg Eisenberg, Benesch’s Managing Partner. “Our clients will start seeing the benefits of Melissa’s skills on day one.”
Grim regularly counsels clients on the design, structuring, implementation, and compliance for retirement plans, health and welfare plans, equity incentive plans and other benefit and compensation arrangements. She also represents clients in handling and negotiating inquiries, audits, investigations, and assessments, advisory or other ruling requests, and voluntary compliance correction matters with the Internal Revenue Service, the Department of Labor and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation.
Prior to joining Benesch, Grim was a partner and the leader of the Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Practice Group at Honigman. Earlier in her career, Grim was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis. She holds a B.S. from Iowa State University and an M.B.A. from Drake University. She earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from the DePaul University College of Law.
