Kal Shah named as Benesch’s Latest Fellow to the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD)
February 14, 2017
Benesch has chosen Kal K. Shah to be a member of the 2017 class of Fellows, participating in a landmark program created by the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) to identify, train, and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal profession.
In response to being chose, Kal indicated that “this is a singular honor for me. Benesch’s commitment to diversity is one of the many reasons I joined the firm.” Indeed, over the past year, the firm has redoubled its efforts with respect to diversity. “It is important for our legal community to reflect our community overall.” said Gregg Eisenberg, Benesch Managing Partner. “LCLD is an important organization focused on this goal. Kal joins a select group of experienced attorneys from diverse backgrounds who have been recognized for their potential as leaders in their organizations.”
Founded in 2009, LCLD is a growing organization of more than 260 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners who are personally committed to creating a more diverse and inclusive legal profession. The LCLD Fellows program, which has trained more than a thousand mid-career attorneys since 2011, is one of LCLD’s most important initiatives.
Kal is a partner in Benesch’s litigation group, representing clients in complex commercial and intellectual property litigation matters. Benesch’s 2016 Fellow is Amanda M. Miller, partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group and Chair of Benesch’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee. In 2015, Benesch’s Fellow was Kiamesha G. Colom, partner in the firm’s Real Estate & Environmental Practice Group.
