January 29, 2025

Benesch is pleased to announce that Peter Kirsanow, a partner in the Firm’s Labor and Employment Practice Group, has been appointed Chairperson of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights (CCR) by President Donald Trump. Peter was reappointed in 2019 by the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives to his fourth consecutive six-year term on the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.

“We are incredibly proud to have Peter representing our firm and contributing significantly to civil rights initiatives in this role,” said Managing Partner Gregg Eisenberg.

Peter specializes in employment-related litigation, contract negotiations, NLRB proceedings, union matters, EEO matters and arbitration. Previously appointed to the NLRB, Peter played a key role in notable decisions and testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on several Supreme Court nominations. His experience includes leading successful litigation on behalf of the National Association of Manufacturers against the NLRB, impacting over six million employers nationwide.
