Deana Stein is a trial lawyer who focuses on complex commercial litigation and dispute resolution, with an emphasis on transportation and logistics.
She represents third-party logistics providers (3PLs), transportation brokers, motor carriers and commercial shippers in litigation involving cargo claims, loss and damage, non-delivery, and contract disputes among carriers, brokers, and agents, including matters involving interstate and international shipments. She also counsels clients on pre-suit strategy, negotiations and risk-mitigation measures designed to help avoid future disputes.
Deana also has experience in products liability suits, including defending manufacturer of off-road vehicles in personal injury suits involving claims that the products were defectively designed and manufactured, as well as commercial arbitration and litigation experience involving business dissolution, insurance and reinsurance, commercial landlord-tenant disputes, labor and employment matters, and workers’ compensation-related disputes.
Licensed in three states and several federal district courts, Deana handles all phases of litigation, including depositions, arguing motions before state and federal trial courts, and jury trials, and she has argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. She also manages complex electronic discovery, including ESI protocols, preservation and collection, and large-scale document review and production.
Deana has received multi-year recognition by Best Lawyers in Commercial Litigation, Labor and Employment Litigation, and Product Liability Litigation.

Represented manufacturer in Carmack and breach of contract dispute against logistics company and motor carrier following destruction of its cargo in train crash.
Defended freight logistics and brokerage company in breach of contract dispute and obtained dismissal on jurisdictional grounds.
Defended motor carrier in Carmack dispute and obtained dismissal of lawsuit on summary judgment, including successfully defending dismissal on appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
