Megan C. Parker

Overview

Megan focuses her practice on Intellectual Property Litigation and Artificial Intelligence (AI), boasting a robust background in legal research and writing. Megan’s practice covers both litigation and advising work, focusing on copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and privacy law, as well as evolving laws, regulations on artificial intelligence across multiple industries, and providing clients up-to-date information from the intellectual property and AI legal landscape.

In her practice, Megan has authored legal memoranda on various topics, including the legal implications of using an AI chatbot, CAN-SPAM Act’s opt-out requirements, and reverse engineering software code under the DMCA. She also researched safe innovation of AI, AI’s impact on intellectual property ownership, and ethical implementation of AI in the legal profession.

Megan’s contributions extend to drafting template AI acceptable use policies, AI governance policies, and intellectual property cease-and-desist letters. In addition, she performed due diligence reviews of third-party agreements and intellectual property registrations in an asset acquisition, with a keen eye for potential intellectual property implications.

Prior to joining Benesch, Megan gained practical experience in trademark prosecution during her tenure as a legal intern at the Akron Law Trademark Clinic. In this role, she skillfully executed trademark availability searches using Corsearch® and the USPTO’s former Trademark Electronic Search System (TESS). Megan also managed client communications, overseeing their trademark needs and prerequisites, and successfully filed and prosecuted trademark applications under a limited recognition license through the USPTO Law School Clinic Certificate Program.
