Regulatory Compliance
Transportation is subject to extensive federal, state and local regulation, and compliance requirements directly shape how transportation and logistics companies run their operations. Our team helps carriers, brokers and shippers meet these requirements efficiently and confidently. We build, audit and refine safety and compliance programs; advise on hazardous materials transport and security protocols; and guide clients through regulatory inquiries, reviews and enforcement actions.
Overview
We work proactively to design, strengthen and support compliance programs so clients can operate reliably and without disruption. When issues arise, we respond quickly and strategically, helping clients navigate regulatory frameworks by understanding not only the rules themselves but also the objectives and enforcement priorities behind them.
Our team has deep experience with carrier selection issues, in which shippers, carriers and brokers are drawn into catastrophic injury litigation in search of expanded liability. We have successfully defended clients in these matters and have served as expert witnesses when our insight into industry standards and operational realities has helped secure favorable results.
We routinely conduct mock USDOT safety audits and compliance reviews using Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSA) methods to evaluate the current effectiveness of a client’s compliance program. When a motor carrier is selected for an actual audit or compliance review, we prepare responses, develop corrective action plans and file for safety rating upgrades for carriers whose ratings have been downgraded. We also assist clients in improving their CSA scores, including DataQ challenges. In short, we develop the policies, procedures and documentation needed for a complete and effective safety compliance program that stands up under regulatory scrutiny.
